DENNIS LANCASTER SENTENCED IN NEWRY FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGERS
In a case that has deeply shaken the community of Newry, a local man named Dennis Lancaster has been convicted of heinous sexual offenses committed against two young girls during a family gathering.The incident, which took place on the night of October 19, 2010, has left a lasting impact on the victims and their families, who have endured a long and painful journey through the justice system.
Lancaster, who had previously denied the allegations, pleaded guilty to charges of serious sexual assault involving penetration of a minor and another sexual assault on a sixteen-year-old girl without her consent.
His plea came after a lengthy investigation and court proceedings that revealed the disturbing details of his crimes.
Since the night of the attack, Lancaster has attempted to deny responsibility, even going so far as to make false claims that the teenagers had instigated the incidents, thereby attempting to tarnish their reputations and further traumatize the victims and their loved ones.
The first victim, a girl just fourteen years old at the time, was attacked in her own home.
Her mother, who has five children, recounted the harrowing experience, describing how Lancaster had suddenly pounced on her daughter, forcing her into a downstairs toilet where he subjected her to a horrific sexual assault.
The mother explained that after the assault, Lancaster escaped through a window, only to return to the house while the young girl was being comforted by relatives.
Despite his return, Lancaster calmly inquired about what had happened, but the frightened girl was too overwhelmed to speak.
Later that night, Lancaster ascended the stairs and assaulted his second victim, a sixteen-year-old cousin of the first girl, who was sleeping upstairs.
The second girl managed to fight him off, and the following day, both girls confided in each other about the assaults.
