East Sussex pianist sentenced to seven years for stabbing and bleach assault on boyfriend

EAST SUSSEX PIANIST SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS FOR STABBING AND BLEACH ASSAULT ON BOYFRIEND

A gifted pianist and music teacher named Marlena Meczynska-Shiibashi, aged 38, from East Sussex, was found guilty of a serious assault on her boyfriend.

According to court reports, she had been in a tumultuous on-and-off relationship with her partner since 2011.

The incident occurred in her Hastings flat when her boyfriend was asleep.

She poured bleach onto his face, causing severe burns, and then stabbed him in the groin, narrowly missing his penis.

The Lewes Crown Court heard her express a disturbing intent during her trial, saying, "I wanted to harm his penis but missed." She pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The court also issued her with four years of extended license and an indefinite restraining order preventing contact with her ex-partner.

During her arrest, she claimed her actions were in self-defense and cited a history of sexual abuse, though evidence was found to contradict her claims.

The judge, Christine Laing KC, described her as "a liar and a very manipulative person who hides behind the story of serious abuse as an excuse to lash out." The outcome underscores her coercive and controlling behavior, and her personality disorder has been deemed untreatable.
