January 2015 Cumbrian man jailed for child abduction & sex offences A Cumbrian man has been jailed after admitting child abduction and engaging in sexual activity with a child under 16. Mark Warwick, 34, of Catherine Street, Whitehaven, was today caged for 32 months after previously admitting the offences. Carlisle Crown Court heard how on Friday, September 11, 2015, police entered a property in west Cumbria and found Warwick and a 15-year-old girl in a state of undress. Warwick was immediately arrested. He had previously entered guilty pleas to abducting a child on September 11 and engaging in sexual activity with a child between May 1 and September 2015 Following concerns regarding his contact with the 15-year-old girl Warwick was served with a Child Abduction Notice. This notice stated a number of conditions, including that he was not allowed to have the girl visit or contact him. Detective Sergeant Hannah Robinson, from the Public Protection Unit, said: “Warwick’s behaviour towards this girl was completely inappropriate and inexcusable. “I am pleased he has been brought before the courts to answer for his actions and that after coming by this intelligence we were able to intervene and arrest Warwick for his behaviour“
