Mark Gohery, 53, was in possession of over 5,000 indecent images of children and over 1,400 videos. Many of the videos and images he had were in the most severe category.Gohery, of Sherburn Terrace, Consett, County Durham, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court this week facing three counts of making indecent images. The offences date back to January 13, 2021 and were committed in Lemington.The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences during his appearance. Due to the severity of the offences, Gohery’s case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court, where he will be sentenced next month.Gohery admitted being in possession of 317 still images and 785 videos in category A; 426 still images and 609 videos in category B; and 4,555 still images and 51 videos in category C. He is now required to register as a sex offender.Brian Payne, prosecuting, told the magistrates that the case should be sent to the crown court as their powers were not sufficient to sentence Gohery. The magistrates agreed, and Gohery will be sentenced at the court on Wednesday, July 10.A pre-sentence report was ordered, and Gohery was released on bail.
