WAYNE DOMENEY CONSETT AND BEDWORTH: SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Consett and Bedworth, Wayne Domeney, a 51-year-old man, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence of 17 years after being convicted of a series of heinous sexual offences committed over a four-year period from 2010 to 2014.

His criminal activities came to light after a warrant was issued on 29 January by Warwick Crown Court, where Domeney was scheduled to appear to face multiple serious charges. However, he failed to attend the court proceedings, prompting authorities to issue a warrant for his arrest. Despite his absence, Domeney was convicted in his absence of several grave offences, including rape and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Later, Domeney appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, 23 March, for sentencing. During this hearing, he was also found guilty of an additional charge related to his failure to appear for trial, which resulted in a four-month prison sentence for that specific offence. His current residence is listed as Generation Place, Consett, County Durham, but his criminal record and recent activities have linked him to the areas of Consett and Bedworth, with possible connections to Aldershot in Hampshire.

The charges against Domeney are particularly disturbing and include one count of raping a female under the age of 13, along with three counts of raping females aged between 13 and 15. He was also convicted of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration, engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, and inciting a child to participate in sexual acts. Additionally, Domeney was found guilty of witness intimidation, further highlighting the severity of his criminal conduct.

The case initially drew attention in February 2018 when Warwickshire detectives issued a public appeal for information regarding Domeney’s whereabouts. Authorities described him as a convicted child rapist who was believed to be hiding in the North East of England, specifically in Consett. The police also indicated that he might have links to Aldershot in Hampshire, raising concerns about his potential movements and the risk he posed to the community.

Law enforcement urged anyone who had seen Domeney or possessed information about his location to contact police by calling 101. They also encouraged the public to report tips anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting their website at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. The case remains a stark reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the ongoing efforts of authorities to bring dangerous offenders to justice.
