September 2020 Paedophile banned from the internet breaches order A child rapist who downloaded indecent images of children despite being banned from using the internet has been jailed. The 58-year-old was found to have access to the internet on his laptop after officers conducted a warrant at his home in Radford. Mark Allsop, of Grafton Court, pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and making indecent photographs of children. He has now been jailed for two years and seven months after being sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court this week. The charges relate to a number of incidents in September and October 2019 where Allsop downloaded indecent images of children. On 11 December 2019 in the early hours, detectives and officers attended his home to execute a protection of children’s act warrant. Allsop answered the door and he was arrested on suspicion of making and possession of indecent images of children. He was then further arrested on suspicion of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order after officers discovered he had his laptop switched on and connected to You Tube next to his bed. Officers seized his laptop and it was discovered he was using software to download the images. Allsop has a sexual harm prevention order prohibiting him from using any computer or device capable of accessing the internet, unless he notified the police within three days of acquiring the device, which he had failed to do. The laptop had a number of videos and images of category A, B and C indecent images of children, category A being the most severe. Allsop has a history of sexual offences. He has previously been convicted on 12 January 2007 of a rape of a girl under 13-years-old and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a girl, causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, making indecent images of a child and possessing indecent images of a child. He received three-and-a-half years imprisonment at the time and had to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He also received a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for five years on 12 September 2013 at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and he was given a Foreign Travel Order due to concerns he was visiting Thailand and interacting with children. He was also convicted on 26 February 2018 for making indecent images of children. He received 12 months imprisonment and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years issued by Nottingham Crown Court on the 3 February 2018, which expires on 25 February 2028.
