LUTON MAN MARC WATTS SENTENCED TO 12 MONTHS FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LUTON
In a case that has shocked the local community of Luton, 52-year-old Marc Watts from Marsom Grove was handed a prison sentence of 12 months after being found guilty of possessing and creating indecent images of children. The sentencing took place at Luton Crown Court on Friday, February 22, following a detailed investigation into his activities involving illegal online content.
Authorities acted swiftly after receiving information that someone residing at Watts’ address was accessing and downloading illicit images via the internet.
This led to a search warrant being executed in the early hours of April 12, 2016.
During the raid, police officers seized two laptops and three USB sticks from Watts’ home, which contained a staggering total of more than 13,800 images and videos depicting child exploitation.
These materials ranged across various categories, from the most serious Category A images to Category C, and included six prohibited images that are illegal to possess under UK law.
Watts was subsequently charged with multiple offences, including three counts of making indecent images or pseudo-images of children and one count of possessing prohibited images.
His actions have been described by the presiding judge, Barbara Mensah, as “calculated, manipulative and devious,” highlighting the premeditated nature of his crimes.
In addition to his prison sentence, Watts will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) upon his release.
This order aims to restrict his access to online content and prevent any further harm, reflecting the seriousness with which the court views his offences and the potential risk he poses to the community of Luton.
