MAJID MOHAMMED OF STOKE-ON-TRENT BREACHED SEX OFFENDER ORDERS AGAIN AFTER PLAYING FOOTBALL WITH ANOTHER OFFENDER

In May 2018, a 23-year-old sex offender named Majid Mohammed from Stoke-on-Trent was brought back to court after violating his court-imposed restrictions once more. The offender, who previously attempted to meet a girl for sex in a park, had also used an alias on a dating website.

Mohammed had previously been sentenced in September to a three-year rehabilitation order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) after pleading guilty to online grooming and attempting to meet a girl at Central Forest Park in Hanley.

However, he soon breached these orders by deleting search history from his mobile phone and possessing bank cards that he had not registered with police. During a police search of his home, officers found an iPad, a PlayStation 4, and a mobile phone, all capable of internet access. The deletion of search history from his mobile phone was a breach of the SHPO, and possessing unnotified bank cards and using a different alias on a dating website violated his obligations under the sex offenders' register.

Police also found he was playing football with another sex offender, breaching the terms of his restrictions. Consequently, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Majid Mohammed was sentenced to a 12-month community order and 40 hours of unpaid work.

Prosecutor Denise Fitzpatrick explained that as part of the SHPO, Mohammed was prohibited from using any device capable of internet access unless he notified police within three days of acquiring it. Police officers visited his home in October to ensure his understanding of these requirements. During a routine check in January, his mobile phone was seized due to suspicions he had deleted internet search history. Further searches conducted on March 21 confirmed the breaches.

Miss Fitzpatrick stated, "He was found to have had possession of an iPad, PlayStation 4, and a mobile capable of accessing the internet. The deleted search history from the mobile placed him in breach of the SHPO. He also breached the sex offenders' register by using a dating website under an alias and possessing two bank cards without notifying police."

Majid, of Nile Street, Burslem, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements and breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Recorder Stephen Thomas warned him, "You have to comply with the restrictions otherwise you will find yourself back in court. If there are any further breaches they will impose custodial sentences upon you." He was also ordered to pay £100 in costs.

This case followed a previous incident in September 2017, where Majid Mohammed was sentenced for grooming a child. At that time, he received a three-year rehabilitation order after pleading guilty to attempting to meet an underage girl at Central Forest Park, Hanley. Members of Creep Catchers UK confronted him during his attempt, and footage of the encounter was shared on social media. Mohammed was seen sitting on the grass with his head in his hands.

Following his arrest, he was charged with attempting to meet a girl under 16 following online grooming and was eventually convicted. In addition to the rehabilitation order, he was given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was required to be on the sex offenders' register for five years, with proceedings held at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
