An Eastbourne cleaner named Ludovit Gerhat, aged 34 and residing on Blackwater Road, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found to have repeatedly accessed images of child abuse despite a prior conviction, according to police reports.
The sentencing was carried out at Lewes Crown Court on March 4, following Gerhat's guilty plea to breaching his registered sex offender requirements.
A Sussex Police spokesperson stated, "He will now also remain a registered sex offender for a further ten years and will continue to be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), severely restricting his access to digital communications devices and children for the same additional period." Gehat's earlier conviction in August 2021 involved possession of indecent images of children, which led to an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.
As part of his registration obligations, he was required to keep his digital devices accessible for police monitoring.
However, police investigations later revealed attempts by Gerhat to erase material from his devices.
Officers inspecting his devices discovered that he had viewed more than 200 videos and over 100 other indecent images of children, some classified in the most serious categories.
PC Louise Blacker, who is part of the East Sussex team overseeing registered sex offenders in the community, commented on the case saying, "Gehat clearly felt he could get away with this, but did not realize that we can effectively monitor him and help ensure communities are protected."
