LORNE TURNER FROM BLACKBURN SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR RAPE IN BURNLEY AND BLACKBURN

In a recent court ruling, Lorne Turner, a man from Blackburn, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 13 years after being convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault against a teenage girl. The case, which drew significant attention, revealed disturbing details about Turner's misconduct and the serious impact it had on the victim.

Turner, aged 38 and residing on Abberdale Close in Blackburn, faced a jury at Preston Crown Court where he was found guilty of three separate charges of rape. The court heard that Turner had engaged in a pattern of predatory behavior, including offering money to the young girl in exchange for sex. Despite her refusal, he persisted and ultimately committed the act of rape. The victim, who was a minor at the time, made efforts to resist Turner's advances, but was unable to prevent the assault from occurring.

During the trial, Turner maintained his innocence, denying the allegations and claiming that the girl was lying. However, the jury rejected his defense, leading to his conviction. The court was informed that Turner had admitted to a single charge of sexual activity with a child, but the jury's verdict encompassed the more serious charges of rape.

Judge Angela Beech addressed Turner directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions. She stated, “Your conduct towards the girl has had, to put it mildly, a profound effect on her.” The judge also highlighted the importance of speaking out against sexual abuse, noting that the girl had urged others who have experienced similar trauma to come forward and seek help.

As part of his sentence, Turner will be placed on the sex offenders register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his future interactions. Additionally, he is prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with girls under the age of sixteen, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need to protect vulnerable minors from potential harm.

Following his conviction, it was revealed that Turner is currently living in Burnley under the alias Len Turner, raising concerns about his attempts to evade detection.
