Simon Walford

Blackburn Sexual Abuser

January 2015 Serial paedophile jailed for 16 more yrs as total of child sexual abuse convictions reaches 80 A career paedophile who once turned his home into a house of horror has now been jailed for 16 more years as his total of child sexual abuse convictions reached 80. Simon Walford was caged indefinitely in 2010 after filling his home with horror film props, including a life-size model of Freddy Krueger, to lure teenage boys. The 44 year-old former pet shop worker also covered his walls with skulls and figures of Hannibal Lecter, Jason from the Friday The 13th movies and Chucky from Child’s Play. Walford, who had only been out of prison for nine months, sexually abused a boy after persuading him to watch a horror film with him at his former home in Blackburn, Lancs. He was described as ‘dangerous and predatory’ and jailed for an indefinite period for the abuse and breaching an earlier sexual offences prevention order. That was imposed in 2003 when he was convicted of a series of earlier sex offences on under-16 year-old boys when he lived in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Walford was hauled from prison to face Bristol Crown Court when another former child victim emerged to accuse him of historic abuse over three years to 2003. The court heard how Walford used Xbox computer games to entice the boy into his bedroom in the seaside town. He began touching the lad when he was only 11 years old and after a couple of days unsuccessfully tried to have sex with him. When the boy was aged 12 he managed to penetrate him and continued to abuse him. The victim, now aged 25, told the court: “It went on for two to three years. Maybe four out of seven days a week. “I was scared of him. He was bigger than me. I didn’t know what he would do if I tried to leave.” The abuse first came to light in 2003 when one of the victim’s friends confessed he was also being abused by Walford. They told police but ten years later admitted they had not revealed the full details. Officers re-investigated in 2013 when the younger victim was accused of making threats to kill and told police he hadn’t been totally honest as a boy. Walford denied the offences but was convicted of attempted rape, two serious sexual assaults and an attempted sexual assault. Judge Michael Roach imposed the 16-year sentence in addition to his indeterminate jail term and said it would be up the Home Office to decide when he would be released. He said: “The affect of the behaviour on the boy was profound. “His life has been badly blighted by what the defendant did to him. He lives a lonely life, pretty much constantly in his room without any social interaction.” December 2015 Already jailed paedophile found guilty of sexually abusing boy A CONVICTED paedophile has been found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy during a four-year period at a Weston-super-Mare house. Former pet shop worker Simon Walford was convicted of abusing the boy, who was aged between 11 and 15 at the time of the abuse, after luring him to his house to play computer games between 1999 and 2003. Walford, aged 44, was found guilty on December 10 by jurors at Bristol Crown Court after a nine-day trial. He was convicted of four serious sexual assaults, including one charge of attempted rape. Walford had been charged with nine sexual offences in total, including two charges of raping another younger boy, but was cleared of four charges of rape and one charge of attempted rape. August 2010 Paedo ‘film set’ flat to lure boys A paedophile from Lancashire who created a horror film set at his home to try to lure children has been jailed indefinitely. Simon Walford, 39, decorated his flat in Blackburn with skulls and figures from horror movies including Hannibal Lecter and Friday the 13th. Walford, of Blackburn, was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child at Preston Crown Court. Judge Christopher Cornwell passed a minimum term of two-and-a-half years. But he said Walford, of Hancock Street, would not be released until he no longer posed a risk to the public. Walford enticed one boy to his home to watch a ghoulish film and went on to sexually abuse him, the court was told. He was also found guilty of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and of breaching a sexual offences prevention order. The defendant was jailed for two-and-a-half years for similar offences in November 2003 Last year he was barred from having any contact with children after associating with another sex offender. The court was told Walford was starting to show remorse for his latest crime but he refused to leave the cells to be sentenced in person. Following the hearing, Neil Standage, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “Simon Walford is a dangerous and predatory offender who blatantly breached the sexual offences prevention order against him and has shown no remorse for the offences he committed “He has now been jailed indefinitely, which means that, although a minimum term is set by the judge, he will stay in prison for as long as he remains a risk to the public.”
