In a case that has shocked the local community of Swindon, a man named Leif Stacey was sentenced to a decade behind bars after being found guilty of attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl in Queen's Park. The incident took place on the 2nd of February, 2004, when the young girl was simply walking through the park, unaware of the danger lurking nearby.Leif Stacey, aged 21 and residing at Culvery Court in Swindon, was convicted of the serious offence in a court hearing held at Swindon Crown Court. The court heard that Stacey's actions were not only criminal but also demonstrated a significant risk of reoffending, prompting the judge to impose stringent restrictions on his future conduct.
Judge Thomas Longbottom, presiding over the case, emphasized the gravity of the crime and the threat Stacey posed to the community. He ordered that Stacey be banned from working with children for the rest of his life, a measure designed to prevent any future harm. Additionally, Stacey was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
