KIRISIN SIMARLIN FROM PETERBOROUGH JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCE BREACH IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE
In a recent development in the ongoing efforts to monitor and control convicted sex offenders, Kirisin Simarlin, a 35-year-old man from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, has been sentenced to six months in prison for breaching a court order related to his previous convictions.The incident underscores the persistent challenges law enforcement faces in ensuring compliance among individuals with a history of sexual offences.
Simarlin’s troubles began on August 4 of this year when police officers detained him on suspicion of violating a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that had been imposed on him.
The order was part of a broader legal framework designed to restrict the activities of sex offenders and prevent further harm.
Simarlin’s history with the law is extensive; he was placed on the sex offenders register in 2013 following convictions for sexual offences against a child, including the heinous act of rape.
During his arrest, authorities discovered that Simarlin had engaged in a covert act to circumvent the restrictions placed upon him.
Specifically, he removed the SIM card from his personal mobile device and inserted it into the phone of an acquaintance.
This act was an attempt to access the internet without using his own device, thereby potentially avoiding detection and breaching the conditions of his SHPO.
Despite being questioned by police about his internet activity and the devices he used, Simarlin failed to disclose this information, further violating the terms of his court order.
The day following his arrest, Simarlin was formally charged with breaching his SHPO by using an internet-enabled device belonging to another person, utilizing his SIM card for internet access, and failing to inform police of his actions.
These breaches demonstrated a clear disregard for the legal restrictions imposed on him and posed a significant risk to public safety.
On October 9, at Peterborough Crown Court, Simarlin appeared before the judiciary to face the charges.
He admitted to the breaches, and the court subsequently sentenced him to six months in prison.

Further investigations by officers from the northern Public Protection Unit (PPU) revealed that Simarlin had also stayed overnight at the residence of another registered sex offender.
