MAN WHO THREW KNIFE AT PARTNER IS JAILED
A man responsible for attacking his partner, during which he threw a knife that became embedded in her shoulder, has received a three-year prison sentence.Isaiah Khan, aged 27, threw the six-inch knife amid an argument at their former residence in Peterborough in January 2018.
The victim required hospital stitches and sustained a permanent scar but initially told medical staff she had accidentally slipped.
The couple separated in 2019, but two years later, concerned for the safety of Khan’s new partner, the victim came forward to disclose the abuse she endured.
She recounted to police the knife incident and also mentioned that Khan had previously punched her in the face and pushed her into a hallway.
Throughout their three-year relationship, Khan subjected her to physical violence, including two incidents while she was pregnant.
He exerted control over her finances, making her pay for everything and transfer money to him after receiving her wages.
Khan also restricted her communication with family and friends, dictating when she could contact them.
The victim bore numerous scars from objects Khan threw at her, including glass bottles, mugs, mirrors, and mobile phones.
Following a trial in February, Khan was convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and two charges of coercive and controlling behaviour.
On 29 April, at Cambridge Crown Court, Khan, from Poulter Avenue, Stanground, Peterborough, was sentenced to three years in prison and received a 10-year restraining order.
