KHARLED RADMAN TERRORIZES DOG IN LIVERPOOL - WALLASEY INCIDENT LEADS TO COURT CASE

Kharled Radman, a company director residing on Smithdown Road in Liverpool, was involved in a disturbing incident that drew the attention of animal welfare authorities and ultimately resulted in a court hearing.

Born on June 1, 1980, Radman was filmed on March 11, 2018, engaging in aggressive and abusive behavior towards his pet Mastiff-type dog, Achilles, in a manner that was both intimidating and harmful.

According to reports, Radman was captured on camera banging on his dog’s kennel in a manner that appeared to be designed to assert dominance, claiming he was trying to get Achilles to drop a dead rat.

The footage, recorded by a neighbor, shows Radman repeatedly hitting the kennel with a stick, which raised serious concerns about the welfare of the dog.

Radman later explained that his actions were an attempt to retrieve the rat from his dog, asserting that he was trying to be the 'head of the pack.' The incident took place at Radman’s partner’s residence on Manor Road in Wallasey, where the RSPCA responded after being alerted to the situation.

Upon arrival, inspectors found Achilles outside in a small, paved area at the rear of the property.

The dog was in a poor state, visibly underweight by approximately five kilograms, and suffering from pressure sores caused by prolonged periods of lying in an outdoor kennel that was not weatherproof.

The environment was grim, with the area surrounding the dog contaminated with feces for one or two days, and two bowls containing dry food with a brown liquid in them, indicating neglect.

Achilles had been in Radman’s care for eight years, having been taken in as a puppy.

The RSPCA’s examination revealed that the dog was living in distressing conditions, prompting the organization to take him into their care for his own safety and well-being.

The authorities emphasized that the dog's physical state and the environment he was kept in were unacceptable and warranted intervention.

During the court proceedings, Radman pleaded with the magistrates, expressing his desire to retain custody of Achilles.

He stated, “I’ve had that dog since it was born and I’ve never hit that dog.

Even as a baby I never slapped his nose.

I was trying to get a rat off my dog.” Radman also admitted to feeling frustrated and aggressive at times but insisted he had never been violent towards Achilles.

He added, “It would have been wrong of me to leave him chewing on a rat and my missus would have killed me if I left him chewing on it.

If you are going to take Achilles away from me, there’s nothing else that matters to me.

I will do anything you say, please just don’t take him off me.” However, the prosecution, represented by Chris Murphy on behalf of the RSPCA, outlined the events that led to the dog’s removal.

Murphy recounted that on the morning of March 11, a witness named Miss Kay heard shouting and commotion from her neighbor’s yard around 8:30 am.

Upon looking out, she saw Radman in the garden, visibly angry, throwing objects, shouting, and swearing aggressively.

Murphy described how Radman then picked up a stick and began hitting the ground, shouting threats such as, “I’m going to rip your head off, get out here now.

I’m going to kill you.” Miss Kay observed Radman poking the stick into the dog’s kennel before returning to her home to record the incident on her phone.

During police interviews, Radman explained that his actions were intended to make the dog drop the rat, claiming he was trying to establish himself as the dominant figure in the household.

The court heard that the incident caused significant psychological fear and distress to Achilles, as confirmed by a veterinarian who examined the dog after he was seized.

In sentencing, Radman was ordered to pay fines and costs totaling £995, which he agreed to pay in monthly installments of £50.

Additionally, he received a two-year ban from keeping animals, a restriction that has since expired.

The case highlights the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of neglect and abuse, with authorities emphasizing the need for responsible pet ownership and the protection of vulnerable animals in Liverpool and surrounding areas.
