JOSHUA EDGE OF LIVERPOOL STRIKES AGAIN: HORRIFIC DOG ATTACK AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN WAVERTREE

Joshua Edge, a man with a long history of criminal activity and violent behavior, has once again found himself at the center of a serious legal case in Liverpool.

Most recently residing on Goswell Street in Wavertree, Edge was involved in a disturbing incident on Boxing Day 2020 that included domestic violence and a brutal attack on a pet dog.

According to court reports, Edge, born around 1993, had been in a relationship with Ellie Carr for approximately 18 months at the time of the incident.

The events unfolded in the early hours of December 26, 2020, around 3 a.m., when both individuals had been consuming alcohol.

An argument erupted on the street between the couple, which quickly escalated into violence.

Prosecutor Lydia Durkin detailed that Edge grabbed a piece of gym equipment from a nearby garden and struck Ms.

Carr on the head, causing a two-inch laceration.

Following this assault, Edge left the scene on foot, leaving Ms.

Carr to seek refuge at a relative’s house before returning to her home in Everton around 6 a.m.

When she arrived, she found Edge inside her residence, with a kitchen knife visibly present in the same room.

The court heard that Edge called her a derogatory term, “slag,” and demanded she leave.

This led to a heated argument between the two.

During the confrontation, the family dog, a nine-year-old West Highland Terrier named Alfie, attempted to intervene by positioning himself between Edge and Ms.

Carr and growling.

In response, Edge approached the kitchen knife and proceeded to stab Alfie in the neck, inflicting a significant laceration and causing bleeding.

The attack on the dog was described as particularly severe, and the animal was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic.

Fortunately, Alfie has since recovered from his injuries.

In addition to the attack on the dog, Edge assaulted Ms.

Carr by punching her in the head and kicking her left leg, resulting in visible bruising.

Police were called to the scene, and Edge fled before officers arrived.

He was later located and arrested.

During his arrest, Edge admitted to the officers, saying, “I f****d up.” Police also discovered a small bag of cannabis in his possession.

Edge, who has no fixed address but was previously known to reside in Wavertree, has an extensive criminal record.

He has accumulated 16 previous convictions for 28 offenses, including a 2015 conviction for causing grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm after attacking a former partner.

His criminal history also includes multiple drug possession offenses between 2012 and 2020.

In court, Edge pleaded guilty to several charges, including causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, criminal damage, three counts of assault by beating, and possession of cannabis.

The magistrates sentenced him to 25 weeks in jail, with a victim surcharge of £128.

Additionally, he was banned from keeping dogs for life.

Further updates in June 2022 revealed that Edge, now residing on Goswell Street, Wavertree, faced new charges related to possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

It was disclosed that Edge has struggled with a decade-long addiction to Class A substances.

Although he claimed to have been pressured into dealing drugs, prosecutors maintained that he used drugs but was not under such pressure.

By this time, Edge had amassed 17 previous convictions for 29 offenses, primarily related to drug possession, with no confirmed supply charges.

His criminal record also includes a 2015 conviction for causing grievous bodily harm following an incident involving his ex-partner and their child.

After his latest conviction, Edge was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years.

The court also ordered him to complete a Thinking Skills Programme, a 30-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, a 12-month Drug Rehabilitation Requirement, and 150 hours of unpaid work.
