KETIJA BELINSKA SHOCKS LINCOLN WITH CRUELTY AND ASSAULT AT LOCAL PUB

In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Lincoln, Latvian national Ketija Belinska, born around 1967 and residing on Cannon Street, became the center of a serious criminal case involving animal cruelty and violent assault. The events took place on the evening of November 8, 2024, at the popular Dog and Bone pub located in Lincoln City Centre.

According to reports, Belinska was accompanied by her small Chinese crested breed dog when she was observed to suddenly lose her temper. Witnesses state that she began physically assaulting her pet, hitting the dog with apparent aggression. The situation escalated further when four individuals, who attempted to intervene and stop her from harming the animal, were assaulted by Belinska. These bystanders tried to protect the defenseless dog and prevent further violence, but were met with hostility and physical aggression from Belinska.

Police officers responded promptly to the scene after being alerted to the disturbance. Upon arrival, they detained Belinska and took her into custody. She was subsequently charged with multiple offenses, including causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and assault by beating. Her actions drew significant concern from the local community and animal welfare advocates.

Belinska appeared before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court to face the charges. The court found her guilty of both offenses. She was sentenced to serve 10 weeks in prison for the assault on the bystanders and an additional 8 weeks for causing unnecessary suffering to her dog. It was revealed that she had previously received a suspended six-month sentence in March 2024 for actual bodily harm (ABH), which complicates her current legal situation.

Since the recent incident occurred within her probationary period, the court ordered that her previous 26-week suspended sentence be served concurrently with her new 18-week sentence. This results in a total of 44 weeks of imprisonment. Furthermore, Belinska was issued a lifetime disqualification order, prohibiting her from owning, keeping, or controlling any animals in the future. The dog involved in the incident was subject to a deprivation order and will be rehomed to a new family.

In addition to her prison sentence and disqualification, Belinska was ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the victims who were assaulted during the incident. The case has raised concerns about animal cruelty and violence, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of animal protection laws and greater accountability for such acts of cruelty and aggression.
