JORDAN LEE FROM NORWICH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In October 2014, a man from Norwich was sentenced to three and a half years in a young offender’s institution after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.The incident involved Lee, who was 20 years old at the time, taking advantage of the young girl after she had consumed alcohol to the point of passing out.
According to court proceedings, Jordan Lee was aware that the girl was only 14 years old but nonetheless allowed her to join him in drinking alcohol at his flat in Norwich.
The prosecution, led by Lori Tucker, described the girl as being extremely intoxicated, to the extent that she was described as “smashed” and had passed out.
It was during this state of unconsciousness that she awoke to find Lee engaging in sexual activity with her.
Following the incident, the girl confided in her family about what had happened, prompting them to contact the police.
Lee was subsequently arrested and charged with sexual activity with a girl under 16.
During the court hearing, Lee of Barnards Yard, Norwich, admitted to the charges.
In his sentencing remarks, Recorder Guy Ayers emphasized that Lee was fully aware of the girl’s age and that she had been helping herself to alcohol, which contributed to her intoxication.
The judge pointed out that Lee had shown a blatant disregard for her well-being and that alcohol played a significant role in facilitating the offence.
Recorder Ayers clarified that Lee had not directly supplied the alcohol but acknowledged that the girl had helped herself to drinks.
Despite the seriousness of the offence, the court acknowledged Lee’s guilty plea, which was taken into account during sentencing.
Michael Clare, representing Lee, argued that Lee was only 19 at the time of the incident and that he had taken advantage of the girl.
Clare also highlighted that Lee had not forced the girl to drink, as she had helped herself, and noted that Lee was a young man deserving of some leniency.
Furthermore, the court noted that the girl did not have to give evidence in court, which was considered a mitigating factor.
Ultimately, Lee was sentenced to three and a half years in a young offender’s institution and was also ordered to register as a sex offender, reflecting the gravity of his actions and the need for public protection.
