A boxer with a history of domestic violence has been jailed for trying to get a victim to withdraw charges against him. A drunk Jonathan Williams turned up at his ex's house and gave her a deadline for dropping charges - threatening to have her child taken off her if she didn't comply. The defendant has a history of abusing and attacking partners including spitting in a partner's face and threatening to burn her house down, and assaulting a pregnant partner before driving away with a child in a car while he was under the influence of drugs. The most recent offending involved Williams twice turning up at the home of a former partner late at night. On May 30 this year, he banged on the door and shouted before throwing a cup of hot chocolate over a window, then two days later he returned and smashed the house's video doorbell. On June 5, Williams went to the Llanelli house once more and began shouting and threatening to get the woman's son taken off her unless she dropped the charges by the following day. The court heard that the ex-partner made a withdrawal statement to police the following week, saying she just wanted the defendant to get help with his drink, drug, and mental health problems. Williams, aged 28, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage and to witness intimidation. He has 21 previous convictions for 48 offences, including a number relating to the same victim. His sentencing included a total of 12 months in prison, comprising 12 months for witness intimidation and one month for each of the two counts of criminal damage, all to run concurrently. The defendant will serve up to half that period in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in the community.
