LINCOLN PENSIONER, 82, JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
An 82-year-old man who carried out multiple sex offences against three schoolgirls over a 40-year period has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. The offender, Barrie Hall of St Andrew's Gardens, Lincoln, confessed to nine crimes including rape and sexual assault.
His first victim was targeted in the 1980s, and he resumed offending three decades later, as described in Lincoln Crown Court.
The presiding judge, Recorder John Hardy KC, stated, "Your behaviour almost falls outside the boundaries of the English language," and expressed the realistic possibility that he will die in prison.
Hall admitted raping a girl under 16, four charges of indecent assault against the same girl, a charge of gross indecency, and sexually assaulted two girls under 13.
Police investigations began in 2024 following disclosures from a victim, and during a search of his home, officers found a blow-up doll, various sex toys, and sweets.
Despite his criminal record, which included 12 convictions for indecent exposure ending in 1980, Hall was also known for raising money for cancer charities.
Impact statements from two victims, who cannot be named, were read publicly; one said, "You have not got away with what you have done.
Now it is time for your nightmare to begin," while the other expressed ongoing fear, saying she is "frightened to wear a dress or shorts."
