JOHN ARMSBY SENTENCED IN EAST SUSSEX FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES INVOLVING YOUNG GIRLS
A man named John Armsby, aged 47, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of two young girls in East Sussex.The offenses, which spanned from 2017 to 2022, included multiple instances of rape and sexual assault against victims who were under the age of 13.
These disturbing incidents came to light after the victims reported the abuse, prompting Sussex Police to launch an investigation.
The allegations were formally reported on January 24, 2022, and within two days, authorities had apprehended Armsby.
His residence on Ninfield Road in Bexhill was subsequently searched, leading to the discovery of digital devices containing indecent images of children, further implicating him in the criminal activities.
Following the investigation, Armsby faced a series of serious charges.
These included five counts of raping a child under 13, five counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13, and an additional charge of assaulting a child under 13 by penetration.
In addition, he was charged with possessing five indecent images of children and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.
The case was brought before Lewes Crown Court, where a jury found Armsby guilty of all charges on March 26.
The verdict confirmed the severity of his crimes and the extent of his misconduct.
On June 6, the court handed down a substantial sentence, sentencing Armsby to 24 years in prison.
An additional four years will be served on extended licence, ensuring close supervision upon his release.
Furthermore, the court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restricting his contact with minors and preventing him from reoffending.
In addition to the prison sentence and court orders, Armsby was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to protect the community.
Restraining Orders were also issued against both victims, preventing any contact or communication with them.
These convictions highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the justice system in East Sussex to combat child exploitation and ensure that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
