JOE JORDAN SENTENCED IN COLCHESTER FOR RAPE IN HARWICH
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local communities of Colchester and Harwich, a man named Joe Jordan has been handed an eight-year prison sentence after being convicted of a serious sexual assault that took place in Harwich during the summer of 2018.The incident occurred on the evening of July 17, 2018, when Jordan, aged 24 and residing on Barrington Road in Colchester, was seen stopping his vehicle on Parkeston Road.
Witnesses reported that he had noticed the victim, an acquaintance of his, standing by the roadside.
According to court proceedings, Jordan initially offered to give her a lift home, a gesture that might have seemed benign at first.
However, instead of taking her directly to her residence, Jordan drove her to a secluded car park.
It was there that he committed the assault.
The victim, who was in her 30s, was subjected to a sexual attack that has left lasting scars.
The assault was so severe that when she was found by a neighbor, she was collapsed on the pavement, visibly distressed and without any clothing on her lower body.
The neighbor, witnessing her vulnerable state, promptly called an ambulance to seek medical assistance.
The investigation into the incident quickly gained momentum.
On July 21, 2018, just four days after the assault, police apprehended Jordan.
DNA evidence collected from the scene linked him directly to the sexual assault, leading to his arrest.
Further inquiries revealed that Jordan was not the owner of the vehicle he was driving at the time, which resulted in additional charges related to driving offences.
Jordan had previously admitted guilt to several driving-related crimes, including driving while disqualified, taking a motor vehicle without consent, and driving without insurance.

The court proceedings culminated on April 26, 2019, at Ipswich Crown Court, where Jordan was found guilty of one count of rape.
Today, on June 11, he was formally sentenced to eight years in prison for his actions.

Her dignity throughout this process has been commendable, and I hope today’s result can allow her to start moving forward.” She further emphasized the severity of Jordan’s actions, saying, “There is no question that Jordan’s actions that night were abhorrent.
Witnesses who saw the victim that evening described her as being in an extremely vulnerable state, and Jordan exploited that vulnerability.
He is a dangerous individual who saw an opportunity to cause irreparable harm to someone he knew.
To this day, he refuses to acknowledge that there was anything wrong with his actions.” The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of justice and the protection of victims.
