COLCHESTER SEX OFFENDER IN COURT FOR CHILD IMAGES - AGAIN
A registered sex offender who tried to say that his indecent images of children were research for the “perfect female figure” will be sentenced for a further breach.
Police first arrived at Jonathan Turkentine’s Colchester home in September 2020.
Turkentine said he knew why the officers were there and handed over a laptop and two hard drives.
His devices were searched, and police uncovered a total of 251,386 indecent images and videos showing children whose ages ranged from six years old to teenagers.
Turkentine said he viewed the imagery for "artistic reasons" as he was researching the "perfect female form," Ipswich Crown Court was told in 2022.
He was jailed in 2022 for one year, although he continued to deny he had a sexual interest in children.
He was before the court again last year, having breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) by deleting photographs on WhatsApp and using a setting which automatically deletes messages.
On Wednesday, the now 68-year-old Turkentine, of Mersea Road, Colchester, was in the dock again for breaching his SHPO and one count of making an indecent image of a child.
He is expected to be sentenced by Recorder Richard Leiper KC on Friday.
