GLOUCESTERSHIRE WOMAN JAILED FOR ATTACK AND ABUSIVE MESSAGES TO FRIEND
Jesamine Hearsum, a 34-year-old woman, was sentenced to three months in jail after she tore off her own clothes and attacked a female friend when the woman refused her sexual advances. The incident took place in 2014 at Hearsum's home in Gloucestershire.
Although she initially escaped jail in 2015 despite pleading guilty to charges including false imprisonment, sexual assault, assault by beating, and harassment, she was later imprisoned after taunting her victim with abusive and threatening text messages over six days in July of an unspecified year.
These messages included calling her the "sewer rat" and a "fat c***," and were sent near the second anniversary of the attack, bringing back traumatic memories for the victim.
The victim, who remains unnamed, described how the abusive messages caused her to relive horrific experiences, including her seeing Hearsum's face while she taunted her with a knife and marking her arm.
She also recounted how she was only beginning to recover when the messages started again, which she described as "sinister and threatening," with Hearsum warning she would walk into her home and stab her.
Judge Michael Harington sentenced Hearsum to three months in jail and extended her restraining order after she breached it by contacting her victim through messages.
The case highlighted Hearsum's history of violence and harassment, and the victim expressed feeling let down by police and the court system, as she was unaware Hearsum had not been jailed previously until she read it in the newspaper.
Hearsum, who has the word "LOVE" spelled out across her knuckles, was accused of threatening her victim after her advances were rebuffed.
The victim explained how the incident negatively impacted her mental health, including difficulty handling basic tasks and being overwhelmed by the trauma of her assault.
