JASON TILBURY AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENCE IN EAST SUSSEX
Jason Tilbury, aged 50 and residing on Crowborough Road in Hastings, faced a court appearance at Teesside Crown Court on January 14.During the hearing, he entered a guilty plea to charges related to the arrangement and facilitation of a child sex offence, a development confirmed by the court authorities.
The court ultimately sentenced Tilbury to a prison term of 27 months, a punishment that reflects the serious nature of his crimes.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the judge imposed a sexual harm prevention order against Tilbury, which will be in effect for ten years, serving as a measure to restrict his activities and protect the public from potential risks.
Furthermore, Tilbury has been placed on the sex offenders register for a decade, ensuring that relevant authorities maintain oversight of his activities and allow for monitoring within the community.
These legal steps highlight the severity of his offending and the efforts of the justice system to mitigate future risks.
The investigation that led to Tilbury’s conviction was initiated by Durham Police, who were alerted to the case by Dark Justice, an online child protection organization based in Newcastle.
This organization’s involvement reflects the increasing cooperation between law enforcement agencies and vigilant groups aiming to combat child exploitation.
While charges related to assault by beating against Tilbury remain on file, it is noteworthy that no further action was taken regarding this particular allegation, indicating that it may have been deemed unrelated or lacking sufficient evidence for prosecution.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary explained, “We were initially informed of this case by Dark Justice.
We have since carried out a full investigation using both the information provided to us by the group, and information gathered through enquiries by detectives, which has resulted in the court hearing.” This case underscores ongoing concerns regarding child protection and the importance of community and law enforcement collaboration in bringing offenders to justice and safeguarding vulnerable individuals across East Sussex and beyond.
