JAMIE JOHN OF DERBY JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES FOUND ON HIS COMPUTERS AND MOBILE PHONE

In a case that has shocked the local community of Derby, 22-year-old Jamie John has been sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of child abuse images stored on his personal devices.

The investigation revealed that the images, which depicted the most severe forms of child exploitation, were found on computers located both at his own flat and at his grandmother’s house, where he had been staying at the time.

Derby Crown Court was told that the images included scenes of extreme indecency involving children, as well as highly explicit material that also featured animals.

Prosecutor Sarah Slater confirmed that nearly 400 images were recovered from the computers, with additional material discovered on John’s mobile phone.

The images were described as revolting and deeply disturbing, highlighting the severity of the offense.

Jamie John, of Woods Lane, Derby, admitted to possessing indecent images and extreme pornography during the court proceedings.

The judge presiding over the case, Judge John Gosling, expressed his condemnation of the material, stating, “These were revolting pictures of children being abused.

If you had not got the problems you had, I would have sent you to prison for a long time, and that’s what will happen if you ever do this again.” Judge Gosling acknowledged that John had experienced a traumatic upbringing, which he believed contributed to his psychological state.

The court heard that John’s background was marred by difficulties, and that recent efforts by foster parents, doctors, and social workers had been made to improve his circumstances.

Despite these efforts, the judge noted that a hospital order, which might have provided mental health treatment, was deemed inappropriate after assessment.

As part of his sentencing, Jamie John was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

He was also handed a lifelong ban from working with children and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of 10 years.

Additionally, he was placed under a sexual offences prevention order, which prohibits him from being alone with any children under 16, possessing photographs of children without parental consent, or using devices to access the internet without a monitored search history.

Due to time already served on remand, John is expected to be released from custody within a few weeks.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals in the community of Derby.
