SOUTHAMPTON MAN SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ABUSE AND VIOLENCE
A court sentenced Jake Worster, aged 31, for a series of brutal domestic abuse crimes.
Worster was convicted of physically assaulting Anneliese Smith, a mother of two from Southampton, by pinning her down and restraining her with his legs, then squeezing her recent C-section wound just three weeks after she gave birth.
He also pulled her to the floor by her ankles, hitting her across the face, and then kicked down their bedroom door after a dispute.
Court proceedings revealed that his violence escalated over time, and he previously served a suspended sentence for abusing Anneliese in 2020, which involved choking, punching, kicking, and property damage.
Worster was arrested on December 1 after an incident where he squeezed her C-section scar when she reported it to the police, but he continued to contact her illegally, ignoring bail conditions.
During sentencing, he admitted to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, multiple assaults, and common assault.
He was given a 15-month suspended sentence for two years, ordered to pay £100 in compensation, complete five rehabilitation days, and attend 30 sessions on an accredited program.
Worster also received a six-month restraining order.
The judge described him as an 'out and out bully who gets violent,' and Worster expressed remorse, claiming he has changed and requesting a chance to prove himself.
Anneliese expressed disappointment that the sentence was suspended but hoped the restraining order would help her and their son, whom she gave birth to on November 8 of the previous year.
