SCARBOROUGH OFFENDER ON THE RUN: POLICE SEEK MAN WHO BREACHED PRISON CONDITIONS

UPDATE: JACK GATES WAS FOUND AND JAILED 31ST MARCH 2023

Police in Scarborough are seeking assistance to locate Jack Gates, a 21-year-old man who has become a wanted individual and needs to be returned to prison. Gates, whose last known residence was in Trafalgar Square, breached his release conditions after neglecting appointments with the Probation Service and demonstrating poor behavior. He is also suspected of unlawfully taking a car without the owner’s consent and attempting to assault the car owner in Scarborough around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 9 January 2013. The vehicle was subsequently discovered overturned in woodland at Forge Valley by an off-duty officer at approximately 6:50 pm the same day. Gates was originally sentenced on January 25, 2012, to 18 months in prison following a burglary on Garfield Road, where car keys were stolen from a home and the car was subsequently taken. In addition, he faced charges for driving without a license and insurance. The burglary offense took place on July 25, 2011. Gates was released under license on October 24, 2012. On January 17, 2013, the Ministry of Justice ordered his recall to prison, prompting extensive local and national police inquiries to locate him. Authorities are urging residents to report any sightings or information concerning his whereabouts in order to aid the search.
