IAN WILSON FROM PETERBOROUGH BUSTED FOR SEX OFFENCES AND BREACHING ORDER
In December 2020, Ian Wilson, aged 47 and residing on Celta Road in Peterborough, faced serious legal repercussions after breaching a sexual offences prevention order.Wilson pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to comply with the notification requirements mandated for sex offenders.
As a result, he was sentenced to a community order that included 80 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs amounting to £85.
The breach of the order marked a significant violation of the restrictions placed upon him following previous convictions and legal obligations.
Wilson’s criminal history is notably severe.
Back in July 2011, he was convicted and sentenced to nine years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against a young girl aged 12.
The mother of the victim described her ordeal as “six months of hell,” emphasizing the emotional toll the case has taken on her family.
Wilson, then 38 and living in Longthorpe, Peterborough, was found guilty by Peterborough Crown Court of multiple counts of sexual assault, including acts committed over several months.
The court also established that Wilson had taken indecent images of the girl and coerced her into taking nude photographs of him.
During the police investigation, authorities raided Wilson’s residence and examined his computer.
The forensic analysis uncovered more than 15,000 additional photographs and videos depicting child sexual abuse, highlighting the extent of his offending.
Wilson sat with his head bowed as Judge Sean Enright delivered the sentence, which included three counts of sexual assault, one count of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of possession of such images, and one count of serious sexual assault of a child.
The mother of the young girl, visibly distressed and tearful during the court proceedings, expressed her feelings of anger and betrayal.
She stated, “I don’t think nine years is long enough.
I think it should have been much longer.” She further explained the emotional impact of the case, saying, “Since my daughter reported the offences, I have been through every emotion possible.
It has been sheer hell.” She added that her daughter, being so young, does not fully understand what happened but that Wilson’s actions have profoundly affected her life.
Her hope is that the conviction will bring some measure of closure so they can begin to move forward.
Prosecutor Peter Dahlson revealed that the case came to light after the young girl confided in a school teacher about the abuse.
The girl disclosed that Wilson had asked her to take photographs of him while he was naked.
She also recounted that during the assaults, she asked Wilson to stop, but he sometimes complied and sometimes did not.
During police interviews, Wilson initially denied all allegations but later pleaded guilty to all charges during a court hearing in April, avoiding a trial.
The case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses and the importance of vigilant monitoring and enforcement of legal restrictions in Peterborough and beyond.
