HARRY DUNN RUNCORN ANIMAL CRUELTY CASE: PUPPY STARVATION NEAR DEATH

In a disturbing case of animal neglect that has shocked the community of Runcorn, Harry Nathaniel Dunn, born January 1995 and residing at 35 Cotton Lane, Halton Lodge, was involved in a severe case of puppy cruelty that drew the attention of local animal welfare authorities. The incident came to light in 2022 when Warrington Animal Welfare (WAW) was alerted by a concerned landlord who reported suspicions about the treatment of animals at a property he was renting out to Dunn, a part-time musician and professional dog walker.

Upon investigation, WAW officials visited the residence and discovered a troubling scene: two healthy adult lurchers and a third dog named Otis, who was in a critically poor state. Otis was found to be emaciated, with a skeletal frame that indicated prolonged neglect. Dunn claimed that Otis had been to the veterinarian, but this assertion was later proven false. The rescue team uncovered that the RSPCA had previously visited the property two weeks prior and had issued an improvement notice concerning Otis’s condition, highlighting ongoing concerns about his welfare.

Otis was immediately taken to a veterinary clinic for urgent assessment. Veterinarians found open pressure sores on his legs, which were caused by being confined in a dog crate soaked with his own urine. The puppy’s weight was recorded at a mere 4.5 kilograms, placing him perilously close to death. Despite the severity of his condition, Dunn initially refused to relinquish Otis to the rescue organization. After persistent efforts, he was persuaded that surrendering Otis was in his best interest, and he eventually signed over custody.

Further investigations by WAW revealed a heartbreaking pattern: while Dunn had been feeding his other two dogs, Otis had been left to starve in his own filth, a clear case of neglect and cruelty. Although initial reports suggested that the RSPCA was considering prosecuting Dunn based on the evidence collected, the outcome was unexpectedly lenient. Ultimately, Dunn was not prosecuted but was issued a formal caution, a decision that has sparked outrage among animal welfare advocates and the local community.

Dunn, who pursues a career as a musician under the name Harry Nathaniel, has faced criticism from the public and animal rights groups for his actions. Warrington Animal Welfare expressed their disappointment and frustration on their Facebook page, condemning the leniency of the case and emphasizing the importance of holding offenders accountable. Otis remains under the care of WAW, where he is receiving proper veterinary treatment and showing signs of recovery. The case continues to evoke strong emotions and discussions about animal cruelty and justice in the Runcorn area.
