GRAHAM ANDREW DAVIS SENTENCED IN SOUTHAMPTON FOR CHILD IMAGE OFFENCES
A man from Southampton, Graham Andrew Davis, has been sentenced to jail for creating and distributing highly disturbing images of children.Southampton Crown Court heard that Davis used various aliases to chat online, often posing as a teenager himself.
Defense lawyer Andrew Houston explained that Davis had been watching pornography since the age of 13 and was encouraged by others to expose himself online at that age, though he did not do so due to lacking a webcam.
The court was informed that Davis impersonated a 15-year-old while engaging in online conversations.
On one occasion, he sent images of a child, claiming they were of himself.
Davis, 28, pleaded guilty to producing 17 still images and one moving image.
Although described as being of 'good character' with no prior convictions, the court noted that Davis acknowledged he needed help and recognized his behavior as 'disgusting and hurtful.' However, it was also highlighted that Davis does not understand how children are abused in the creation of these images or that such images are produced for a sexual market.
He was sentenced to 20 months in prison for making Category A images and distributing Category B images.
Davis was visibly upset and cried as he received his sentence and was led from the court dock.
Judge Peter Henry told him: 'Quite clearly you were sending images of very young children pretending that you were at a very young age and the chats are entirely sexual — what you would like to have done to you as a child and what this man would like to do to a child.'
