April 2015 A porn addict who admitted looking at sick images of children has been put under a sexual harm prevention order until further notice Gordon Michael Brown told police he liked looking at “slight girls aged about 18” and found pictures of youngsters aged about 13 to 15 “exciting”. He denied he was sexually attracted to children The defendant, 35, of Montague Street, Barrow, appeared before Furness Magistrates’ Court on Thursday where he admitted the possession of six indecent photographs on December 12, 2013. Five were category C and one was category B. Mr Peter Kelly, prosecuting, told the court police went to Brown’s home after inappropriate internet activity was highlighted to them. He was arrested on suspicion of making indecent images of children and a Zalman computer tower and Advent laptop were seized. Mr Kelly said: “The tower and laptop were sent to Cumbria Constabulary’s high-tech team for examination.” Mr Kelly said Brown had visited dozens of website pages featuring young teenage girls. The prosecutor added that Brown had also downloaded a software programme to delete certain information. Mr Kelly said: “When he was spoken to in December, last year. He told police he went on a lot of gaming sites and accepted he looked at internet pornography. “He said he had a liking for slight girls aged about 18. He admitted he had seen girls who seemed to be underage. He said he had no sexual interest in children. “He told police he liked pornography a lot and was a voyeur probably. He said he found girls aged 13 to 15 exciting. He said he had an interest in many types of porn.” Mr Trystan Roberts, defending, said: “This is a defendant who shows immense remorse for what he has done. He is thoroughly ashamed of himself. He is the author of his own misfortune.” Magistrates sentenced him to a 36-month community order to include an intense sex offenders treatment programme. He was also put under a sexual harm prevention order until further notice. Magistrates said this was because children in such images were being abused and it was only because of demand that this continued.
