May 2013 Child rapist jailed for nine years and eight months Child rapist Peter Gill, 69, pleaded guilty to rape of a female under 16, indecent assault on a girl under 14 years and gross indecency with a girl under 14 Peter Gill abused the young girl in his then home in Anzac Avenue, Walney. The abuse began in 1973 when she was seven and continued until she was 10. “The memories are very strong unfortunately,” she said. “I would be able to sit up and watch telly later than my brothers and I would sit down and watch telly and I would sit on his lap and I remember him coming in late at night into my bedroom.” The youngster would spread toys around on the floor of her bedroom so she could hear Gill walking in at night, but this did nothing to stop the frequent abuse. Gill, now of Clive Street, Barrow, pleaded guilty to rape, indecent assault and indecency with a child and was jailed for nine years and eight months at Preston Crown Court on Friday.
