GLENN TREVOR WILLIAMS JAILED FOR TEN YEARS IN BEXHILL FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES
A serial offender, Glenn Trevor Williams, 62, has been sentenced to ten years in prison after he raped a teenage girl he met on the street in Bexhill.Williams also sexually assaulted the girl and took an indecent photograph of her at his flat.
The incident occurred in Warrior Square, St Leonards, in July 2018, when Williams encountered the girl and her then-boyfriend, who were reportedly distressed.
Exploiting their vulnerability, Williams invited them back to his flat claiming he could help them find accommodation and work.
Once there, he gave them alcohol and assaulted the girl while she was trying to sleep.
The victims later believed that the alcohol had been spiked with a drug that caused them to become drowsy.
Detective Constable Liz Brunt of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit stated, "Williams has many previous convictions for theft and violence, including two for sexual offences involving children.
He had been convicted of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, for which he received six months' imprisonment.
In 2018, he was convicted of inciting a female under 16 to engage in a sexual act, resulting in a four-year custodial sentence." She added, "It is clear that Williams is a manipulative and opportunistic predator, and the fact that he is now behind bars is largely thanks to the evidence given by the couple." Williams, who is currently unemployed, received a 15-year sentence: the first ten years will be served in prison, with the remaining five under extended supervision on license.
He will also be registered as a sex offender for life and was issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that severely restricts his access to children.
Williams was acquitted of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old man.
