GERGEL LUDANYI SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AT CREAMFIELDS IN SOUTHAMPTON

A man named Gergel Ludanyi has been formally sentenced following a disturbing incident of sexual assault that occurred during the renowned Creamfields music festival held in Daresbury. The incident, which took place in August 2022, has garnered significant attention due to the severity of the allegations and the subsequent legal proceedings.

Gergel Ludanyi, who resides on Adelaide Road in Southampton, appeared before Chester Crown Court on Friday, 25 April. The court heard how Ludanyi was found guilty of multiple charges, including sexual assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault by touching. The verdict was reached after a detailed trial that revealed the harrowing experience endured by the victim.

According to court testimony, the victim attended the Creamfields festival with a group of friends, enjoying the festivities in the early hours of the morning. During her time at the event, she was approached by Ludanyi, who was working at the festival’s fairground. The situation quickly escalated when Ludanyi attempted to kiss her, an act she clearly rejected by pushing him away. The victim then began to feel unwell, prompting her to lie down on the ground. Moments later, she lost consciousness.

When she regained awareness, the sun had risen, and Ludanyi was found on top of her. She attempted to push him off, but her efforts were interrupted as she lost consciousness once more. Witnesses at the scene observed Ludanyi moving the victim’s clothing during the assault while she was unconscious, an act that added to the gravity of the charges against him.

It remains unclear how much time passed before the victim regained full consciousness. Upon waking, she found Ludanyi still on top of her. She managed to push him away for a third time, and a witness who had observed the incident approached to assist her in getting to her feet. The victim then reported the assault to security personnel and contacted Cheshire Police, leading to Ludanyi’s arrest.

Following his arrest, Ludanyi was charged with the offences and subsequently convicted in court. His sentencing to eight years in prison reflects the serious nature of his crimes and the impact on the victim.
