GARY NICHOLSON SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN FALKIRK AND EDINBURGH

A man named Gary Nicholson, aged 56, has been handed a significant prison sentence of ten years by the High Court in Edinburgh following a series of heinous sexual offences committed against four young children over a span of nearly four decades. The court proceedings concluded with Nicholson being found guilty on Tuesday, 14 November 2023, and the sentencing was officially carried out on Tuesday, 12 December 2023. As part of his punishment, Nicholson will also be registered on the Sex Offenders Register, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his future activities.

The disturbing case revealed that Nicholson’s earliest known victim was subjected to repeated abuse in Livingston, between July and December of 1981, when Nicholson was only 14 years old. This incident marked the beginning of a long and troubling pattern of predatory behavior.

Further allegations detailed that a second girl, aged just 10 at the time, was targeted by Nicholson at a residence in Laurieston, Falkirk. The abuse occurred at a house and later at a caravan parked in a street within the Stirlingshire town, spanning from August 1993 to April 1995. During these assaults, Nicholson removed her lower clothing and touched her leg and buttocks, actions that caused significant trauma.

In addition, a nine-year-old girl in Kirkcaldy was also victimized by Nicholson, who subjected her to abuse at a house in the town. During this incident, he put his hand under her clothing and touched her, further illustrating the pattern of exploitation.

The court also heard that Nicholson assaulted a fourth girl, also in Kirkcaldy, when she was 10 years old. This abuse took place at another residence in the town between March 2015 and March 2016. The victim was subjected to repeated touches on her legs and chest, and Nicholson’s predatory behavior did not cease there. In 2020, he continued to abuse her, engaging in further inappropriate touching.

The most severe allegations involved Nicholson raping the girl on two separate occasions, actions that constitute some of the most serious criminal offenses in the case. These repeated acts of sexual violence underscore the gravity of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims.

This case highlights the extensive and disturbing nature of Nicholson’s offenses, spanning over several decades and involving multiple victims across different locations, including Falkirk, Livingston, and Kirkcaldy. The court’s decision to impose a ten-year prison sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the importance of safeguarding children from such predatory individuals.
