2016: ‘BULLY’ GARETH DAVIS WHO BEAT UP AND STAMPED ON GIRLFRIEND JAILED FOR 10 MONTHS
Gareth Davis, who previously resided on Horace Street in Halliwell, received a 10-month prison sentence for assaulting a woman in her home. The 37-year-old was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court yesterday for a charge of causing actual bodily harm through violence in July.
Prosecutor David Clarke described to the court that the woman claimed Davis is dependent on alcohol and can be aggressive if denied alcohol or drugs, making her feel extremely frightened of him.
Mr.
Clarke explained that on July 20, the couple went out drinking and returned in the late afternoon.
Following a period of verbal abuse directed at the victim, Davis left alone for over three hours, returning intoxicated and reacting angrily when asked about his whereabouts.
He then reportedly locked both the front and back doors and removed the keys.
In the kitchen, Davis allegedly seized her by the hair, threw her to the ground, insulted her, and told her to go upstairs.
Upstairs, he purportedly lifted her from the floor and shoved her onto the bed multiple times, pressed on her face, stamped on her back and shoulder, and compelled her to apologise for his actions.
She was described as crying and frightened.
The victim sustained bruises and grazing on her arms, back, and legs.
Mr.
Clarke stated she told police Davis is a violent and abusive man who has caused her considerable distress since they met.
Despite this, the court heard the woman intends to stand by Davis after his release.
In court, Davis read an apology letter expressing regret and remorse, stating he was disgusted with himself.
Judge Richard Gioserano remarked that Davis’s violence is evident from his actions and his criminal history, and pointed out that forcing the victim to apologise was a disturbing indication of his need for power and control.
