GAD EVANS FROM NEWPORT JAILED FOR HORRIFIC ABUSE IN CAERPHILLY
In April 2022, Gad Evans, a 55-year-old man from Newport, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences involving a young girl.The case, which uncovered a pattern of disturbing abuse, took place in Caerphilly county between the years 2007 and 2011, revealing a troubling history of criminal behavior spanning several years.
Prosecutor Owen Williams addressed Newport Crown Court, emphasizing that Evans had previously been convicted of rape more than ten years prior.
The court heard that Evans pleaded guilty to a total of ten charges, including four counts of causing or inciting a girl under the age of 12 to engage in sexual activity, and one count of assault by penetration.
Additionally, he admitted to five counts of sexual assault against a child under 13, highlighting the severity and breadth of his criminal conduct.
Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke presided over the case and sentenced Evans to nine years in prison.
She made it clear that Evans would be required to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence behind bars before being eligible for parole.
The judge also mandated that Evans register as a sex offender for an indefinite period, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Furthermore, Evans was permanently prohibited from working with children, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the potential risk he poses to the community.
