COVENTRY MEN CONVICTED OF SEXUALLY ABUSING GIRLS AFTER PLYING THEM WITH DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
Two men, Farhang Taha, aged 26, and Attullah Areen, aged 31, have been found guilty of sexually abusing young girls in Coventry. The men enticed the victims into their vehicles and then transported them to different addresses around the city. During these encounters, they supplied the girls with cocaine and alcohol before subjecting them to sexual acts. The abuse took place between 2016 and 2018, with victims reporting the incidents to authorities four years after they occurred. Police recovered video recordings of the abuse on one of the men's mobile phones. Despite the available evidence, both Taha and Areen denied any wrongdoing and claimed the girls were fabricating details. The case was brought to trial at Warwick Crown Court, where the jury convicted them. Sentencing will happen at a later date. A spokesperson from West Midlands Police commended the courage of the victims, who are now adults, for coming forward and leading to the convictions. The police reiterated their dedication to protecting vulnerable individuals and thoroughly investigating abuse reports, no matter when they occur.
