SOUTHAMPTON MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT ATTACKS ON SEX WORKERS
Everton Fyffe, aged 54 from Southcliff Road, received a six-year prison sentence after being convicted of attacks and violence against three women engaged in sex work in Southampton in 2020.The court revealed that on July 4, 2020, Fyffe assaulted a 40-year-old woman on Parsonage Road, during which he stamped on her, punched her, and brandished a knife threatening her life.
Another woman, aged 37, was targeted on Cranbury Terrace on September 23; Fyffe approached her in an attempt to extort money, pushed her to the ground, rendered her unconscious, and forcibly took her in his car where he continued the assault.
The third victim, a 43-year-old, was confronted by Fyffe on Mount Pleasant Road, where she was hit with a fold-up bike.
Judge Peter Henry criticized Fyffe, stating that his victims had “lived in fear of you and tried to avoid you.” Following a trial at Southampton Crown Court, Fyffe was found guilty of causing actual bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon, and false imprisonment.
The judge emphasized that Fyffe targeted “vulnerable and defenceless” women and showed disdain for women pushed into prostitution due to addiction, perceiving himself as a dominant figure in the community.
PC Sue Badham pointed out that sex workers are “particularly vulnerable” to violence and praised the bravery of the victims who cooperated with authorities to secure Fyffe’s conviction.
Fyffe's conduct was described as arrogant and impervious to consequences, with a belief that he could act with impunity.
