LINCOLN MAN EIMANTAS MATASEVICIUS CHARGED WITH SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRL IN LINCOLN
A man from Lincoln, identified as Eimantas Matasevicius, has admitted to serious criminal charges involving the sexual assault of a girl under the age of 13. The incident took place during a specific period between August 1, 2018, and October 1, 2018, when Matasevicius was just 16 years old. The court proceedings revealed that he pleaded guilty to a charge of rape, acknowledging his involvement in the sexual assault. In addition to this, he also confessed to a second charge of sexually assaulting the same young girl within the same timeframe. Despite these admissions, he denied a third allegation, which involved kissing the girl on her neck, a detail that was contested during the hearing. For the safety and privacy of the victim, her identity has been kept confidential. The court heard that Eimantas Matasevicius had previously been a resident of Lincolnshire, and following his guilty plea, he was remanded into custody. His legal counsel argued that his guilty plea was based on the belief that he was unaware of the girl’s true age at the time of the offenses. They also claimed that he was unaware of her age because she was taller than him during the incident, which they suggested led to his misunderstanding.
However, the prosecution challenged this explanation, asserting that the sexual acts, including the alleged intercourse, were not consensual. They requested a Newton Hearing, a special hearing to establish the facts of the case, to be held before the judge. Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight scheduled this hearing for February 20 at Lincoln Crown Court. During the proceedings, Matasevicius, who required a Lithuanian interpreter, remained in custody until the hearing date. The final sentencing will be determined after the judge reviews the evidence and makes a ruling during the Newton Hearing, which is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the allegations and the defendant’s level of responsibility.
