DYLON SCOTT FROM DUNDEE REPEATEDLY ABUSES EX-GIRLFRIEND AND BREACHES COURT ORDER

Dylan Scott, a man from Dundee with a troubling history of domestic abuse, narrowly avoided imprisonment after admitting to breaching a court order intended to protect his former partner. The sequence of events highlights a pattern of coercive and violent behavior that has spanned over several years, culminating in a recent incident that brought him back before the courts.

Scott, aged 28, has a documented history of controlling and aggressive conduct towards women he has been involved with. His previous convictions include multiple instances of abuse directed at different girlfriends. During one particularly alarming episode, he attempted to exert control over his partner by dictating her clothing choices and even ordered her to leave social gatherings against her will. On another occasion, he deliberately released the handbrake of her car, causing it to roll uncontrollably into a lamp post, an act that demonstrated his willingness to use dangerous tactics to intimidate her. Scott’s possessiveness was encapsulated in his own words to her: “I go where you go,” underscoring his controlling nature.

In 2020, Scott was sentenced to jail and was issued a five-year non-harassment order following a court hearing. Despite this, he continued to exhibit aggressive behavior. Recently, he appeared before Forfar Sheriff Court to admit to breaching the court order. The court was informed that on April 29, 2022, Scott was seen in Dundee’s Moffat Road, where he pointed at his ex-girlfriend and began shouting and swearing at her, clearly violating the restrictions placed upon him.

Despite the seriousness of his actions, Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown decided that a custodial sentence was not necessary. Instead, she ordered Scott to complete 150 hours of unpaid community work and placed him under supervision for a period of two years. Additionally, Scott was instructed to participate in the Caledonian Programme, a rehabilitation scheme for domestic offenders. The court also extended his non-harassment order for three years, effectively prolonging the existing restrictions by an additional 18 months.

Further details of Scott’s troubling conduct reveal a pattern of coercive control. It was previously reported that he became enraged when his partner posted a photograph of herself on social media. The following day, an argument ensued in her car, during which Scott released the handbrake, causing the vehicle to roll into a lamp post. The woman sought refuge at a house party, where friends intervened to prevent Scott from entering. In a similar incident later that month at a different gathering in Broughty Ferry, Scott pushed his partner to the ground after she expressed a desire to leave.

There were also disturbing reports of Scott repeatedly lifting his partner over his shoulder to prevent her from leaving, an act that was triggered by her complaints about the unsanitary condition of his flat on Dallfield Court. Between March 1 and July 13, 2020, Scott admitted to behaving in a coercive and controlling manner. He also confessed to making dozens of phone calls and using social media to threaten her, including statements indicating he would not serve prison time.

In 2023, Scott appeared once more in court, admitting to a course of abusive behavior towards a different former girlfriend from November 1, 2021, to January 22, 2023. The court heard that he had doused her in bleach and had threatened to set her on fire, actions that underscore the severity of his violent tendencies and the ongoing threat he poses to those around him.
