DOUGLAS MOORE FROM STOCKPORT SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC ANIMAL ABUSE AND EXTREME CONTENT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community and law enforcement alike, Douglas Moore, a resident of Stockport born on 19 February 1988, was convicted of a series of heinous crimes involving animal abuse and the possession of extreme pornography. The investigation into Moore's activities was initiated by Metropolitan Police officers during the course of a separate inquiry, but it quickly escalated into a major criminal case due to the discovery of a deeply disturbing video.Officers uncovered footage depicting a dog being subjected to both physical and sexual abuse, a revelation that prompted immediate concern and action from senior police officials within the Metropolitan Police. Recognizing the severity of the content, authorities sought a warrant to both rescue the animal and apprehend Moore. On 8 November 2021, law enforcement officials arrived at Moore's residence in Stockport and took him into custody on suspicion of multiple serious offenses, including bestiality, possession of extreme pornography, and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
The police successfully located and removed the dog from Moore's home, ensuring its safety. During the search, they also discovered a quantity of cannabis, adding another layer to the case. Devices seized from Moore, including his mobile phone and computer, were subjected to detailed forensic analysis. The evidence revealed that Moore had been abusing the dog over an extended period and had been actively viewing and sharing extreme content involving animals and humans via the dark web.
Further investigation uncovered that Moore had sought to exchange and share such material with others, discussing plans to meet with individuals for the purpose of abusing dogs and children. However, there was no evidence to suggest that these meetings had actually taken place. Efforts to conceal his activities were evident, as Moore had gone to great lengths to delete chat logs and browsing histories, attempting to hide his offending behavior.
Moore faced a total of 24 charges, which included serious offenses such as engaging in sexual acts with an animal, causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, possessing extreme pornographic images depicting intercourse with animals, and encouraging or assisting in such acts. Additional charges involved making indecent images of children, attempting to arrange child sex offenses, publishing obscene online material, and possessing Class B controlled substances like cannabis.
Following a thorough legal process, Moore was convicted on all counts. His sentence includes a five-year prison term, a lifelong ban from owning animals, and mandatory registration on the sex offenders register for life. The authorities also imposed a permanent prohibition on him owning any animals in the future.
PC Pete Howes, from the Online Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation Command, commented on the case: “Upon discovery of the original video, we took immediate and decisive action to identify Moore and rescue the dog. I am happy to say the dog is now safe and well and is being cared for. The scale of evidence compiled meant Moore was left with no option but to plead guilty. I’m pleased he is now in jail where he belongs. It is no exaggeration to say that this investigation may well have spared more animals and humans from coming to serious harm.”
Moore's sentencing reflects the gravity of his crimes, and the case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat such disturbing offenses and protect vulnerable victims, both animal and human.
