DJEMAL FARIS FROM MILTON KEYNES SENTENCED TO 12 MONTHS FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES

In a case that has shocked the local community, Djemal Faris, a 65-year-old resident of Holborn Crescent, Milton Keynes, has been sentenced to a year in prison following his conviction on multiple charges related to indecent images of children. The sentencing took place at Amersham Crown Court on Thursday, September 11, 2014, where the court heard the details of the evidence against him.

Faris was found guilty of possessing a total of 93 indecent images depicting children of various ages, ranging from very young children to teenagers aged 16. The images were categorized into three levels of severity—categories A, B, and C—with Faris possessing images across all these classifications. Specifically, he had one accessible image in the most serious category A, along with 12 inaccessible category A images. In addition, he possessed 12 accessible and 35 inaccessible images in category B, as well as 11 accessible and 28 inaccessible images in category C.

Furthermore, Faris was convicted of seven counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child, highlighting a disturbing pattern of activity. Despite the gravity of the charges, Faris maintained his innocence during the sentencing hearing, claiming at the trial that he had been falsely accused or framed.

His legal representative argued that some images might have been unknowingly stored on Faris’s hard drive, possibly due to the nature of certain websites he visited. The defense barrister stated, “My only concern relates to the inaccessible images. The evidence was that Mr. Faris probably had never seen any of these images because of the manner in which they appear. The evidence of the expert was that she couldn’t be sure because of the manner by which they were on the hard drive. She couldn’t say they had got onto the computer while being seen by Mr. Faris.”

However, the presiding Recorder Persu emphasized the strength of the evidence against Faris, remarking, “You were convicted on the clearest possible evidence. There are a number of features of this case which are worrying and are capable of being aggravating features. The chat that accompanied some of these images indicated an interest in hardcore images of children. It’s also an aggravating feature that the website account you had was capable of and did facilitate the sharing of images.”

Faris’s actions and the evidence presented paint a disturbing picture, and his conviction underscores the seriousness with which the court treats offenses involving the exploitation and abuse of children. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat such crimes and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
