Febuary 2003 Internet predator abused girl, 13 A train driver who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl he met and “groomed” over the Internet has been jailed Andrew Lay, 35, of Milton Keynes, admitted a series of sexual offences against the girl after befriending her via a chatroom. The girl, from the Camberley, Surrey, met Lay over the internet last July when she was 12. She believed he was in his early 20s and they communicated regularly, via the internet and by text message before arranging to meet. The court heard the couple met three times. An investigation began after the girl’s parents complained to Surrey Police. Indecent pictures of children A search of Lay’s home led to the discovery of thousands of indecent pictures of children on his computer and digital camera, including more than 100 of his victim. Lay had pleaded guilty at Guildford Crown Court on 24 January to two charges of unlawful sexual intercourse, two of gross indecency, one of indecent assault and four specimen charges of making indecent photographs. On Friday Lay also pleaded guilty to 21 specimen charges of making indecent photographs. He was jailed for six years and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
