DILLON MURRAY'S BRUTAL ATTACK IN SUNDERLAND: SEX OFFENDER'S VIOLENCE ESCALATES

In a disturbing series of events that unfolded in Sunderland, Dillon Murray, a 22-year-old man with a troubling criminal history, was found guilty of multiple violent assaults against his girlfriend.

The incidents, which occurred over a span of just a few days between late December and early January, reveal a pattern of aggressive and dangerous behavior that culminated in a serious court case.

According to court proceedings, the violence was triggered by a seemingly trivial incident involving social media.

Prosecutor Kevin Wardlaw explained to Newcastle Crown Court that Murray had been scrutinizing his partner’s Facebook activity, specifically her posts and interactions.

The catalyst for his violent outburst was when another man liked one of her posts, prompting Murray to confront her about it.

This seemingly minor event escalated rapidly into physical violence.

During the court hearing, it was detailed that Murray had been physically aggressive towards his girlfriend while they were in bed.

He had gotten on top of her and punched her twice.

After getting out of bed, he struck her again, this time targeting her head.

The victim managed to calm him down temporarily, but the violence was far from over.

Murray then pushed her onto the bed and held a pillow over her face, suffocating her.

She pleaded with him to remove the pillow, which he eventually did, but the assault left her shaken and frightened.

The court also heard that this was not an isolated incident.

In December, Murray had previously put his hands around her throat during a separate altercation, applying pressure that made her struggle to breathe.

The violence continued into the streets, where Murray grabbed her by her ponytail during a confrontation, leaving her with visible bruising.

The victim, in a heartfelt victim impact statement, expressed her distress, saying, “I feel sick when I think about what he has been doing to me and that I have allowed him to keep doing it.

It’s just not right.” In addition to the assaults, Murray was convicted of breaching a non-molestation order designed to keep him away from his partner.

He also admitted to causing criminal damage by breaking a window at her property in May.

Further, he pleaded guilty to burglary after entering his parents’ home without permission and stealing car keys in July.

Murray’s criminal record is extensive.

At the time of these recent offenses, he was serving a suspended sentence imposed in May 2016 for a heinous crime involving a 13-year-old girl in a park.

The court heard that the suspended sentence was a result of his previous conviction, which carried a significant weight in the judge’s decision.

Judge Stephen Earl, who presided over the case, sentenced Murray to 23 months in prison.

The judge also imposed restraining orders to prevent him from contacting or approaching his victims.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Earl emphasized the gravity of Murray’s actions and warned him that any breach of the restraining orders would likely result in a custodial sentence.

He reminded Murray that he was fortunate not to have received a custodial sentence in 2016, and that his recent conduct warranted a serious punishment to protect the victims and the community in Sunderland.
