BICESTER MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TWO CHILDREN
Dennis Hawkins, aged 68 and residing at Saxon Court, Wessex Way, Bicester, received a seven-year prison term after being convicted of sexually abusing two minors.
He committed sexual assaults on a young boy during the 1970s and on a young girl between 2016 and 2018.
At Oxford Crown Court, a jury found him guilty of 11 charges related to child sex abuse from 1970 to 1978, along with four charges from 2016 to 2018.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Gledhill described Hawkins’s conduct as 'absolutely appalling.' Prior to being sentenced, Hawkins was seen crying and shaking his head.
As part of his punishment, he was also subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The court considered statements from both victims, who recounted ongoing difficulties with trust, self-esteem, and fear stemming from his abuse.
It was noted that Hawkins did not face additional penalties for the earlier offenses against the first victim, as he was 14 or younger at the time.
Hawkins has no prior criminal record.
