SWINDON MAN GETS HOSPITAL ORDER FOR SEX CRIMES AND STALKING
A Swindon man has been handed a hospital order for sexual offences and stalking in Oxfordshire.Kessie, 33, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on August 19.
Kessie was sentenced for one count of stalking involving serious alarm / distress, one count of sexual assault on a female and one count of exposure.
For these offences, committed in the Bicester area in July and September last year, he was handed a section 37 hospital order.
Section 37 of the Mental Health Act 1983 allows a court to detain an individual in a hospital for treatment instead of a prison sentence if they have been convicted of a criminal offence and are found to have a mental disorder that requires treatment.
This order can be issued by either the crown court or magistrates' court when it is deemed the most appropriate way to address the individual's situation.
Kessie was also put on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
