DAVID TILICI FROM LIVERPOOL CONVICTED OF CHILD ATTACK IN HOTEL INCIDENT

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, David Tilici, a 29-year-old man originally from Chapel Street, Luton, was found guilty of a heinous attack on a one-year-old infant at a hotel in Liverpool during December 2023. The incident was brought to public attention when the child's mother, who was speaking with Tilici on the phone at the time, heard her baby crying out in distress. Alarmed by the sounds, she immediately contacted the hotel staff and emergency services, prompting a rapid response to the scene.

Paramedics swiftly transported the injured child to Alder Hey Hospital, where medical professionals conducted a thorough examination. The doctors confirmed that the infant had sustained injuries consistent with non-accidental trauma, a term used to describe injuries inflicted intentionally rather than through accidental means. The severity of the injuries underscored the seriousness of the case and the urgent need for justice.

Tilici appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on August 2nd to face charges related to the assault. After a detailed trial, the court found him guilty of both Child Assault and Child Neglect, highlighting the gravity of his actions and the breach of trust involved. The judge sentenced Tilici to a prison term of ten years, reflecting the severity of the crime and the need to protect vulnerable children from harm.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Fairhurst, who is part of the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, described the attack as 'truly shocking and inexcusable.' She emphasized that the young victim has since made a recovery, and expressed her hope that the legal proceedings would bring some measure of closure to the child's family. Sergeant Fairhurst also commended the hotel staff for their quick and decisive actions, which played a crucial role in ensuring the child's safety.

In response to the incident, authorities have involved support organizations such as the NSPCC and Childline, which specialize in assisting victims of child abuse. These organizations are providing necessary support and counseling to the affected family, aiming to help them cope with the trauma caused by this distressing event.
