IAIN BARTON FROM LIVERPOOL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AND PREGNANCY OF VULNERABLE WOMAN

A disturbing case of betrayal and abuse has culminated in the imprisonment of Iain Barton, a 58-year-old care worker from Liverpool, who engaged in a sexual relationship with a vulnerable woman under his care, resulting in her becoming pregnant. Barton, a resident of Glamis Road in the Old Swan area of Liverpool, was employed as a support worker during night shifts at a facility on Merseyside that specialized in assisting individuals recovering from mental health issues.

His role involved providing care and support to residents facing mental health challenges, but instead of fulfilling his duties ethically and responsibly, Barton exploited his position of trust. Neil Colville, the Head of the CPS Mersey-Cheshire’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) unit, issued a statement condemning Barton’s conduct.
